Jon Dean led McDermott’s pro bono effort, now aided by a Ninth Circuit decision, to help a Mexican citizen fight his removal from the country over a misdemeanor conviction, saying “We were honored to work on this important matter and are of course very pleased with the groundbreaking result” of the circuit court. Also assisting in the pro bono case were Pantea Ahmadi, Jessica Mariani and Saurish Bhattacharjee.
