Jeffrey Holdvogt said that a recent private letter ruling was the first time he had heard of the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) approving of contributions conditioned on employee action separate from a retirement plan. The IRS ruling “is quite likely to kick-start a lot of interest from other employers and potentially be something that really causes a change in the way employers provide these types of benefits,” he said.
