McDermott, as pro bono counsel to the Mattachine Society of Washington, DC, has filed a complaint in Washington, DC federal court seeking Freedom of Information Act access to documents involving Executive Order 10450, which in the 1950s authorized the federal government to fire thousands of federal employees for being gay or lesbian. A ruling on the complaint is expected by the end of 2016.
