Cym Lowell discussed his Operation: Next Chapter initiative, which will use sales proceeds of his new novel Jaspar’s War to fund giving free voice-controlled laptops so veterans who may have lost limbs or suffered blindness can use voice commands for connecting with the Internet. A Vietnam War veteran himself, Mr. Lowell explained that he heard about the program providing computers to wounded veterans and asked, “What greater blessing could it be for me than to provide enough computers to whittle down [a] list of two hundred waiting right now plus seventy-five [more being added] every year?”
