California Cities Taking Slow Approach to Exploring Potential ‘Netflix Tax’

Stephen Kranz suggested that cities have recently taken a more conciliatory approach toward local taxation of online video services. A draft model rule that cities can use to impose such taxes “has been narrowed in scope in an effort to appease some industry concerns,” Mr. Kranz said, adding that once this is finalized “it’ll be easier for the industry to determine how to respond.”
