Can Hanjin Calm the Waters with U.S. Bankruptcy?

Timothy Walsh said one problem with Korea’s Hanjin Shipping Company bankruptcy filing is that “the chapter 15 stay really only applies to assets under the jurisdiction of US courts.” Mr. Walsh leads McDermott’s effort to team up with law firm Hill Rivkins and form an ad hoc committee of cargo owners with potential claims against Hanjin in Korea, the US and elsewhere.
