James Moran said that if Congress restored funding to the Office of Technology Assessment, “the country will be the beneficiary” because Congress members “will pass legislation that is better informed.” Mr. Moran admitted that a restoration would be difficult to do when “particularly in the areas of regulating pollution or toxic spills or whatever, there are always going to be some people who are threatened by science [when it] takes away a conducive environment to generate revenue for their respective industries.”
