MILAN and ROME (February 28, 2017) – International law firm McDermott Will & Emery announced today that Carlo M. Paolella will head its Italian offices with immediate effect. Mr. Paolella takes over from Massimo Trentino, who was a founding partner of the McDermott offices in Italy. “We are deeply grateful to Massimo for his leadership in building up our local presence and look forward to continuing this with Carlo,” said Ira J. Coleman, McDermott’s Chairman.
As head of the Italian tax practice, Mr. Paolella advises Italian and multinational companies on domestic and international tax issues relating to mergers and acquisitions, corporate reorganizations, cross-border transactions, transfer pricing, capital markets and collective investment vehicles, and tax controversy. He also regularly advises on the tax profiles of employee incentive plans, debt restructuring and financial instruments. “Carlo brings deep expertise, strong leadership skills and incredible enthusiasm for building on all the good work that’s being done,” added Mr. Coleman. “We are committed to extending our current relationships and building new ones in Italy as we bring to bear the best mix of local and global capabilities, with the goal of becoming even more indispensable to our clients.”
