Jacques Buhart discussed the complexities of cartel regulation, particularly multi-jurisdictional proceedings involving US and EU regulators. “Investigations carried out by different authorities do not all proceed with the same speed,” Mr. Buhart explained. “As a result of the fact, however, that individuals face criminal exposure in the US, the pace of every investigation must be aligned with that of the US investigation. Other competition authorities usually understand this.”
