Chain of Ethics

Overview

Neal White said the SEC’s rule requiring companies to disclose their use of so-called conflict minerals shows more focus on human rights conditions in global supply chains, noting “the hope is transparency will cause change.” Mr. White explained that many companies want to ensure their vendors are in step with the company’s own sourcing compliance codes, which often go beyond legal requirements, because they “find it’s good for business. It actually makes you money,” adding it’s rare that a company “doesn’t want to be ethical.”
