Chamber Calls on SEC to Reform Use of In-House Judges

Eugene Goldman commented on US Chamber of Commerce recommendations for reforming SEC enforcement, saying that so-called Wells Notices (which tell targets that SEC staff is considering recommending enforcement to the commission) should provide more information about the SEC staff’s theory of the case and its evidence. “The more open the staff is, the more effective a Wells brief can be — and that will be helpful to the commission and our clients,” Mr. Goldman noted.
