Stephen Kranz addressed the Liberty Justice Center’s lawsuit against the City of Chicago’s extension of the city amusement tax to Internet-based services, saying McDermott will help the LJC expand the suit to encompass a lease tax ruling aimed at cloud computing. Mr. Kranz said the Chicago tax rulings violate the Internet Freedom Act and ignore the fact that they are not supported by city ordinances, and added, “Somebody needs to stand up and defend both consumers and vendors of the types of things that are covered by the two rulings.”
