Overview

CHICAGO: McDermott Will & Emery is pleased to announce that Andrea (Andie) Kramer, Amy Margolin Harwood, and Marilyn Pearson have been selected to Crain’s Custom Media’s “Chicago’s Notable Women Lawyers” for 2018. The list highlights women lawyers from across the Chicago area who have demonstrated professional distinction, involvement in their community and a commitment to mentoring other women lawyers.

Andie is a partner in McDermott’s Tax Practice Group with a multi-disciplinary practice covering all aspects of financial transactions and derivatives. She was a founding member of the Firm’s Diversity Committee, previously served as founding chair of the Gender Diversity Committee and was instrumental in establishing McDermott’s formal gender diversity training and mentorship programs. Last year, Andie was selected to Crain’s Chicago Business’ inaugural list of the “Most Influential Women Lawyers in Chicago” and was inducted in the Inaugural Legal 500 Hall of Fame for being “widely recognized as one of the nation’s most important voices in financial market tax policy.” She is an adjunct professor at Northwestern Law School and serves as Chair of the Board of The Women’s Treatment Center, where she has been a founding board member for close to 30 years.

Amy is a partner in McDermott’s Private Client & Wealth Management Practice Group, where she focuses on all aspects of estate and wealth transfer planning and also co-chairs the group’s educational initiative for associates. She is a member of the Firm’s Gender Diversity Committee, developing programs and initiatives to recruit, retain and promote talented women lawyers at the firm and assisting them in networking and business development. Outside the firm, Amy serves as a member of Jewish United Fund / Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Chicago Professional Advisory Committee and the Chicago Community Trust’s Young Professional Advisory Committee. She also provides volunteer estate planning services at the Wills for Heroes Foundation.

Marilyn, a partner in the Employment Practice Group, focuses her practice on traditional labor law. She counsels, represents, conducts trainings and negotiates for clients on a full range of matters, from union campaigns to collective bargaining, and from strategic planning to contract interpretation and administration. Marilyn recently represented United Airlines related to contract negotiations with the company’s flight attendants, ultimately achieving a critical breakthrough in labor relations after more than three years of discussions. Local clients including the Joffrey Ballet, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and the Lyric Opera appreciate her commitment to coalition building and leadership in the midst of a series of complex labor issues. Marilyn also dedicates many hours to pro bono work and has consistently served as a role model and educator, including during her 10 years as an adjunct professor at Northwestern Law School. Recently, Marilyn was included in Lawdragon’s Guide to the Most Powerful Corporate Employment Lawyers for 2018.

Andie, Amy and Marilyn exemplify McDermott’s wide array of talent and help illustrate the Firm’s dedication to implementing comprehensive policies and programming to enable the firm to recruit, retain and promote women lawyers. McDermott has received a number of recognitions for its continued commitment to gender diversity including being named among the top-10 female and family friendly law firms by Yale Law Women. McDermott was also listed (for the fourth consecutive year) on Working Mothers “Best Law Firms for Women” and was named among the top 10 “Best Law Firms for Women” in Law360’s 2017 Glass Ceiling Report.
