John Huang of MWE China Law Offices said that, because of whistleblower incentives offered by regulators in China and other countries, “At this point almost every pharmaceutical company is looking at their internal rules and procedures and whether they are being complied with. It is industry-wide.” Mr. Huang noted that his firm had seen whistleblower-related cases double over the last year, leading companies to launch internal investigations, seek legal assistance and train managers to deal with police raids and staff arrests after whistleblower disclosures.
