Tony Maida called a new rule reducing from 10 years to six the lookback period for reporting Medicare overpayments “a positive move.” Mr. Maida had advised on the 60-day overpayment reporting period when he was with the HHS Office of Inspector General, and he added that this reporting clock “doesn’t start to tick as soon as” the overpayment is noted, “as long as the physician exercises reasonable diligence in looking into it.” Read the full article.
