McDermott Continues Growth in Wilmington with Addition of Experienced Corporate Lawyer

Overview

McDermott Will & Emery is pleased to announce the arrival of partner Benjamin “Ben” Strauss to the Firm’s Wilmington, Delaware office. Ben continues the expansion of McDermott’s capabilities in Wilmington and enhances the Firm’s ability to meet the growing demand for complex corporate services in Delaware.

Ben focuses his practice on mergers and acquisitions, private equity, venture capital, corporate finance and securities, and Delaware corporate and alternative entity laws. He also advises boards of directors, special committees and equity holders on fiduciary duties and other corporate governance matters related to Delaware corporations, limited partnerships and limited liability companies, including in connection with conflict transactions.

Ben frequently serves as special Delaware counsel in connection with mergers and acquisitions, private placements and public offerings involving Delaware corporations and alternative entities, and he routinely renders legal opinions to clients worldwide with respect to transactions and issues under Delaware law. He has lectured extensively to foreign lawyers and regulators on Delaware corporate and alternative entity laws.

“Having Ben with us on the ground in Wilmington allows us to offer a fully integrated transactions partner to counsel clients on complex business matters in the geographic center of corporate law,” said Harris Siskind, global head of the firm’s Transactions Practice Group. “We are thrilled to welcome a lawyer of Ben’s caliber, and we look forward to leveraging his skills to meet our increased client demand not only in Delaware but across McDermott’s global platform.”

“My specialized Delaware legal experience coupled with McDermott’s premier corporate capabilities and strong international presence will offer a very powerful combination for clients across all industries around the world.” Ben said. “I’m excited to be a part of the growing Wilmington office, and I look forward to the opportunities a firm like McDermott represents as I continue my legal career.”

Ben is a past president of the Delaware State Bar Association, and currently serves as its representative to the ABA House of Delegates. He has also served as Chair of the Delaware Lawyers Assistance Program since its formation a decade ago. He received his JD from Widener University School of Law and his MBA and BA from Bar-Ilan University (Israel).

Ben continues the firm’s recent momentum in Wilmington after bringing on Delaware litigator Ashley Robert Altschuler. McDermott anticipates continued growth in the region with plans to announce more Wilmington laterals in the near future.
