Current Unclaimed Property Law May Lead to Suits Abroad

McDermott was one of three major law firms which filed an amicus brief on behalf of the Unclaimed Property Professionals Organization, urging the Supreme Court to enter a dispute among several states on whether unclaimed checks should be escheated to the state where the check’s issuer is incorporated or the state where the check was issued.
