LOS ANGELES, ORANGE COUNTY and SILICON VALLEY (August 17, 2016) — Four McDermott Will & Emery Intellectual Property partners have been selected by the Daily Journal, California’s largest legal news provider, for its 2016 ranking of “Top IP Lawyers.” The McDermott partners selected for this year’s list are Jorge Arciniega, William (Bill) Gaede, Mark J. Itri, and Fabio Marino.
The Daily Journal’s 2016 list of “Top IP Lawyers” showcases California’s top intellectual property lawyers compiled from hundreds of nominations. The selections are determined based on the impact of the lawyer’s work in the intellectual property arena and achievements in successfully arguing a novel theory of law, saving a client’s business by winning a case, or protecting the client’s portfolio.
Having four McDermott partners chosen for this exclusive list speaks to the firm’s great strength and depth in our intellectual property practice. Together, these partners represent McDermott’s ability to pull from various backgrounds and expertise in order to provide clients with a wide variety of portfolio and litigation experience spanning across various industries and all aspects of intellectual property law.
Mark Itri, based in the firm’s Orange County office, has extensive experience in various technology sectors and is well-known for the breadth and variety of his international and Fortune 100 client base, including Lockheed Martin for whom he prosecutes patents and trademarks, and provides advice on a number of IP issues including non-infringement, freedom to operate and invalidity. This is the eighth time that Mr. Itri has been selected for this honor.
Jorge Arciniega, based in the firm’s Los Angeles office, has over 30 years of experience guiding companies, including Univision Communications, the largest Spanish language media company in the US, on trademark and copyright matters ranging from creation to clearance to registration and enforcement. This is the fifth time that Mr. Arciniega has been selected for this honor.
Fabio Marino is an experienced intellectual property litigator known for trying high-stakes patent, trade secrets and copyright cases across the United States, with particular emphasis on computer-related technologies, including a big jury trial win for client Radware in March 2016. This is the third time that Mr. Marino has been selected for this honor.
Finally, William Gaede, based in the firm’s Silicon Valley office, has had many praiseworthy achievements as an intellectual property litigator. He focuses his practice on intellectual property litigation in the life sciences and medical device industries serving as lead counsel for a wide range of companies and research institutes, including a nationally recognized jury trial win for client Amgen in March 2016. This is the second time that Mr. Gaede has been selected for this honor.
