Stephen Kranz said that “it would be great” if the new mayor of Washington, D.C. discouraged the use of so-called “bounty hunter” third party audit firms that are generally disliked by practitioners and taxpayers. Mr. Kranz added that the new mayor should also make clear to the District’s chief financial officials that District government “should double down on its customer service effort,” especially with regard to improving the computer systems in the Office of Tax and Revenue.
