McDermott was credited by the head of the Mattachine Society of Washington for the Firm’s pro bono legal help with Freedom of Information Act requests to secure the release of thousands of documents used to prepare a new documentary film, “Uniquely Nasty: The U.S. Government’s War on Gays.” The film was produced by Yahoo News and depicts the 1950s-era campaign by federal government agencies to purge gays from the federal workforce.
