Tony Maida said the Department of Justice’s stated intent to use the False Claims Act for combating the opioid epidemic “is the first instance of that sort of flavor being added to [FCA enforcement] that I can think of.” Mr. Maida suggested that DOJ enforcement would be “up and down the supply chain, including the physician organization or employer, whoever that could be — not just practices but health systems.”
