Tony Maida, as a former HHS enforcement official, predicted that the 50 Medicare Part D fraud charges brought as part of an overall fraud crackdown means there will be more scrutiny of the Part D program, as well as more fraud cases. Calling deterrence one of the main purposes of the fraud takedown announcement, Mr. Maida said it allows the government to get in front of the public and show that it’s actively pursuing fraudsters and prosecuting them.
