Former Federal Prosecutor Boosts McDermott’s White Collar Capabilities in Miami

Overview

McDermott Will & Emery is pleased to announce the arrival of Ben Curtis as a Partner in the Litigation Practice Group in Miami. A former federal prosecutor, Ben expands the Firm’s white collar practice in Florida and enhances its health care litigation capabilities.

Prior to entering private practice, Ben served as an Assistant US Attorney for the Southern District of Florida from 2006 to 2010, and from 2010 to 2015 he served in the Department of Justice Criminal Division in Washington, DC, finishing his public service career as Assistant Chief of the Criminal Division Fraud Section. In his current practice, Ben represents clients in complex civil litigation, government investigations and regularly provides compliance counseling and advice on FCPA and health care fraud and abuse laws. He has tried more than 25 federal jury trials across the United States and offers clients experienced counsel in complex commercial litigation, with a particular emphasis on providing litigation services to clients in the health industry.

“Health care organizations face increasing scrutiny and a constantly evolving regulatory landscape, both within the United States and internationally. Ben’s arrival enhances our ability to offer FCPA assistance and sophisticated white collar counsel to our clients when they need it most,” said David Rosenbloom, global head of the Firm’s Litigation Practice Group. “His experience as a former federal prosecutor affords him a unique perspective to help clients navigate multifaceted government interactions and the complex legal environment facing clients operating internationally and in highly regulated sectors, such as the health industry”

Ben expands McDermott’s bench of highly regarded health care litigators, many of whom obtained valuable experience serving in various government enforcement positions.
