Andrew Roberson, who with Roger Jones successfully represented the taxpayers pro bono in the Rand case before the U.S. Tax Court, also was successful at securing a stipulation to dismiss, with prejudice, the government’s appeal of the case to the Seventh Circuit. In Rand, the taxpayers mistakenly claimed several tax credits based on erroneous advice from an accountant, and the issue has been closely followed by the low-income taxpayer community.
