Daniel Gottlieb discussed the plusses and minuses of the Affordable Care Act compliance certification for electronic records. A negative is that certification is “a pretty lengthy process because the health plans are required to do testing really for either of the credentials with their trading partners,” Mr. Gottlieb said, but he added that because many providers and partners are “not sending back fully HIPAA-compliant electronic remittance advice or other transactions,” certification “is hopefully a way for more of the transactions to be truly compliant with requirements.” Read the full article
