Emily Cook said that under the new rules for the government’s 340B drug discount program, “There appears to be an expectation that the patient would receive services at the covered entity and have gotten the prescription” from a provider there. She added that the proposed rules would also increase the documentation hospitals must submit, and eligibility for the discounts would be evaluated on a “prescription-by-prescription basis” rather than per an individual patient.
