Lisa Linsky spoke regarding documents that McDermott, using the Freedom of Information Act to work pro bono with the Mattachine Society, has unearthed regarding a 1958 Supreme Court decision that was the first the justices ever made on issues that directly impact gay rights. “This is a landmark civil rights case that has not had its due, its place in history,” Ms. Linsky noted, adding that the documents in the case show “the nature and extent of the [anti-gay] animus that goes back so many years.”
