Eric Zimmerman said a House proposal for a permanent repeal of Medicare’s sustainable growth-rate [SGR] formula for paying doctors is similar to other past congressional efforts to pay for short-term SGR fixes. “We’ve seen lots of examples of Congress saying 0% update for these services or those services,” Mr. Zimmerman noted. “This is a pretty classic turning the dial.” He added that while other provisions could be added to the proposal, “I don’t know if these numbers get them where they need to be.”
