Peter Faber told an ABA Tax Conference that the Republican tax proposal to allow one-year depreciation of capital equipment purchases makes “no sense economically,” noting that “when the federal government has adopted accelerated depreciation of one type or another, the states have viewed this as a subsidy.” Mr. Faber added that the proposal is “the ultimate acceleration of depreciation.”
