House Tax Reform Plan May Spook Clean Energy Investors

Overview

Philip Tingle called a House tax plan that would curtail renewable energy production and investment tax credits “more of a policy statement” which says the federal government is “not going to subsidize alternative power sources. It pushes it to a market environment where you go to the lower-cost fuel, no matter what.” Reducing wind energy production tax credits, Mr. Tingle added, “is going to put a lot of stress on these existing projects, particularly the lenders,” while other incentive cuts “would effectively eliminate the development of utility-scale solar projects.”
