Paul Devinsky said a surge in new patent litigation has meant a “stretching of existing resources” for law firms as they are “forced to compete more aggressively and work more efficiently, especially in terms of managing discovery and overall case management.” Mr. Devinsky explained the litigation surge by noting that the impact of the Supreme Court’s Alice and Octane Fitness rulings has diminished, and patent owners “now seem to consider them just another business risk.”
