Ankur Goel advised clients that the CMS’s latest revision to patent encounter data used in provider risk scores is a clear indicator that CMS recognizes that there are numerous problems with encounter data, but it “leaves open the prospect that risk scores will not consistently and accurately reflect the health status of an MAO’s member population.”
