Carolyn Gleason updated Florida growers on the NAFTA renegotiations at the Florida Fruit and Vegetable Association annual conference. Ms. Gleason said that while trade talks are proceeding at an unprecedented rate, the best-case scenario for implementation is 2019 or 2020. In the meantime, she added, “if these hemorrhaging losses under NAFTA aren’t soon stopped, there won’t be much of a U.S. seasonal and perishables sector to even defend in the coming years.”
