CHICAGO (September 15, 2016) — International law firm McDermott Will & Emery LLP announced today that Ira J. Coleman has been elected Chairman of the firm, effective January 1, 2017. Mr. Coleman will chair the firm’s 21-member Management Committee. He will succeed Jeffrey E. Stone and Peter J. Sacripanti, who will step down after eight years of dedicated service as Co-Chairmen.
Mr. Coleman, 53, has been with McDermott for 24 years and serves as the global head of the firm’s Corporate & Transactional Practice and as the partner-in-charge of the Miami office. Throughout his tenure, Mr. Coleman has taken on numerous leadership roles, including being a longstanding member of the firm’s Management and Executive Committees and Chair of the firm’s highly regarded Healthcare Services Private Equity Symposium and Healthcare Services Private Equity Leadership Forum.
Mr. Coleman advises clients on matters related to health care mergers and acquisitions, health care private equity and health system representation. He has authored numerous articles, frequently presents at industry conferences, and is widely quoted in the media on private equity and health law topics. He has also earned numerous recognitions over the years, including most recently, Chambers USA (2007-2016), The Best Lawyers in America (2006-2016), and Super Lawyers (2006-2016).

Mr. Coleman earned a BA from the State University of New York – Albany, a JD from Nova Southeastern University, and an LLM in Taxation from the University of Miami School of Law.
