IRS Launches Joint Effort with States and Private Industry to Combat Identity Theft Refund Fraud

Stephen Ryan, speaking at an IRS Security Summit in his role as general counsel to the American Coalition for Taxpayer Rights (ACTR), said it is “essential” that any taxpayer-specific information used to combat refund fraud is given in “aggregated, anonymous lead reports to IRS and state (Departments of Revenue) that do not include personally identifiable information.” Read the full article.
