Jean Pawlow said she’s noticed that with a tightening of resources at the IRS, proposed taxpayer adjustments are getting fewer and bigger as examination teams are “trying to blow up the one single biggest thing that they can on the return.” Ms. Pawlow continued, “Going into litigation is usually the last thing that people want to do, but we’re starting to see a tendency in that direction, given the sheer dollar size of the adjustments.”
