Jay Singer commented on the Internal Revenue Service’s decision to suspend previous guidance on restrictions to tax-free spinoffs. “Suspending these revenue rulings appears to be a step towards guidance establishing more broadly when revenue collection is not necessary for a trade or business to be active,” Singer said.
