Eugene Goldman said that, despite criticism, the SEC is working as hard as possible to re-establish investor confidence in the financial markets, noting that a bi-partisan $150 million increase in the agency’s budget shows that SEC Chair White “is viewed as credible with a viable package of priorities.” Mr. Goldman added, however, that “the other wrinkle in this is how badly people viewed the SEC’s (prior) performance: missing Bernie Madoff’s fraud put the Commission in quite a hole.” Read the full article
