It Was An Active Year for HIPAA Enforcement: Is It the New Norm?

Edward Zacharias wrote this bylined article discussing how in 2014 the HHS Office of Civil Rights (OCR) got its greatest number of HIPAA settlements in any calendar year to date. “It is likely that OCR’s increased HIPAA enforcement activity will continue in 2015,” Mr. Zacharias wrote, adding that, because of this, organizations which deal with protected health information should be “conducting a thorough risk assessment, addressing any identified vulnerabilities, implementing and updating comprehensive HIPAA policies and procedures, and appropriately training workforce members.” Read the full article
