Laura Jehl Lauded as Influential Thought Leader for Privacy and Cybersecurity Practice Vision and Leadership

Overview

International law firm McDermott Will & Emery is proud to announce Laura Jehl, global head of the Firm’s Privacy and Cybersecurity Practice, has been selected as an honoree in Corporate Counsel’s 2020 Women, Influence & Power in Law Awards in the Thought Leadership Category. This award honors legal professionals who focus on how true leadership can change the world. Honorees have demonstrated a commitment to advancing the empowerment of women in law and who have exemplified extraordinary leadership in their careers.

Laura draws on her unique experience and perspective drawn from more than 20 years of frontline, senior-level leadership in the tech and healthcare industries and positioning herself as a prominent thought leader in the field of privacy and cybersecurity. In addition to using this broad experience to counsel her clients, Laura has leveraged her leadership skills to teach, train and mentor a new generation of data privacy and security lawyers, providing them with opportunities to succeed–and excel–in an ever-evolving practice in a time of accelerating digital transformation. At McDermott, she leads one of Firm’s the most gender diverse practice groups—more than 60% of McDermott’s internationally recognized Global Privacy & Cybersecurity group are women. Laura is also a member of the Firm’s Gender Diversity Subcommittee and the Washington Women’s Network, where she engages in important discussions around developing programs and initiatives to measure progress and ensure accountability related to diversity and inclusion-based metrics, particularly with respect to gender parity, business development and retention.

McDermott’s world-class Chambers-ranked Global Privacy and Cybersecurity team includes more than 30 privacy and cybersecurity lawyers across Boston, Washington, DC, Chicago, Los Angeles, London, Paris and Munich, advising clients on the statutory, regulatory and enforcement regimes that govern the collection, use and disclosure of data in the United States, Europe, Asia, Latin America and elsewhere. We have extensive experience advising on the full range of data privacy and protection laws, industry standards and issues. Our lawyers regularly counsel clients on US and international data-use issues, data transfers and privacy compliance under US and foreign laws. We conduct in-depth privacy/cybersecurity risk assessments, often in the context of mergers, acquisitions and other domestic and cross-border transactions.
