Overview
Lisa Linsky helped draft a Supreme Court brief and argued pro bono on behalf of the Washington, DC-based Mattachine Society (a non-profit that is recognized as one of the earliest US gay rights organizations). Ms. Linsky demonstrated that past discrimination efforts against gay citizens by federal and state governments helped create what she called a “culture of animus [that] developed and permeated every institution of American life” and that was the basis of the same-sex marriage bans that are before the Supreme Court.
