Overview
Elizabeth Lewis was featured among 28 other McDermott lawyers who participate in weekly sessions to help improve reading skills of third-graders at a Chicago elementary school in a poor area of the city. Each lawyer works with one student for a full year, and their tutoring is part of a firm-wide “Partners in Reading” initiative to help children in inner-city schools develop reading skills. Ms. Lewis said, “It’s grounding to step away from the office, books and memos to teach something as basic as reading … I’m always glad to go.”
