LB&I Plans Exams of Spinoff Costs Without Explicit Rules

Jay Singer expressed surprise that the IRS Large Business and International Division (LB&I) will pursue enforcement against tax-free distributions in spinoffs, noting that there is insufficient regulatory guidance in this area.
