Lisa O’Neill, corporate partner based in London, has been recognized by The Lawyer magazine in its Hot 100 annual listing of top lawyers in the UK. Lisa is one of only six private practice lawyers recognized in the corporate category. The Hot 100 focuses on 100 ambassadors of the legal profession who have not just excelled at their day job, but also brought a bit extra to the role. The 2016 listing gathers together lawyers from in-house, private practice and the bar that have truly made a difference in the wider business world.
Lisa is a transactional lawyer with experience of a wide range of corporate and energy transactions, with a particular focus on the oil and gas sector. She joined McDermott at the end of 2014 and has had a very successful and busy first year at the firm. All of her clients have transitioned across, including Praxair Inc, a fortune 250 company, DEA Deutsche Erdoel AG, Control Risks and Discover Exploration. Each instructed Lisa on at least one significant matter in her first nine months with us and new clients have also been won, including Carlyle, Surestream Petroleum and Pacific Oil, giving Lisa a vibrant and exciting practice despite extremely challenging times in the oil & gas sector.
Much of Lisa’s work involves advising on difficult issues and transactions in challenging jurisdictions. In this first year alone Lisa has advised on matters in Trinidad & Tobago, Suriname, Guyana, Malawi, Tanzania, Comoros, North Sea, Colombia, Mexico, Canary Islands, Democratic Republic of Congo, and in nine European countries.
