Boston (December 6, 2016) – International law firm McDermott Will & Emery has been recommended in the LMG (Legal Media Group) Life Sciences 2016 edition. The Firm also received the LMG Life Sciences 2016 Collaboration Impact Deal of the Year award for the representation of biopharmaceutical company Baxalta. The LMG (Legal Media Group) Awards recognize attorneys, firms and in-house counsel teams that have played a significant role in the life sciences industry over the past year.
McDermott was ranked for the first time in LMG’s Finance & Transactional category and is described as having a “…thriving life sciences transactional practice” and noted for the “…ability to service the needs of firms on a global scale across a broad array of technologies.” The Collaboration Impact Deal of the Year was led by Sarah Hogan, a former scientist and an expert who counsels on licensing and collaborations. The transaction involved the representation of Baxalta in a potentially US$1.6 billion collaboration with Precision BioSciences to develop CAR T cell therapies for drug-resistant cancers. The Firm also secured a prestigious ranking in Non-IP Litigation category and is “…held in particularly high esteem in the liability and investigations areas.”

Earlier this year, McDermott was named in the top 5 law firms in the inaugural survey of law firms that are most active and relevant for life science companies.
