Todd Solomon told the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) 2015 Annual Conference & Exposition that “everything has changed regarding benefits for same-sex couples” in recent years, culminating with the Supreme Court’s Obergefell ruling affirming same-sex marriage rights. Many of the changes have already been made by employers in states that had previously recognized same-sex marriage, but “in states that had not recognized same-sex marriage, many exclusions remained, and these have now been swept away” by Obergefell, Mr. Solomon noted.
