MILAN (May 16, 2018)– Leading international law firm McDermott Will & Emery has advised European private equity fund Ambienta on the closing of its closed-end mutual investment equity fund “Ambienta III”.
The Ambienta III fund was promoted and managed by the Ambienta SGR S.p.A. It has a total funding of €635 million, making it currently the largest private equity fund in the world with an investment policy dedicated to environmental investing. The fund has a particular focus on energy efficiency and pollution control.
The fund collected underwriting commitments mainly from foreign investors (European and US) composed by financial institutions (banks, insurance companies, pension funds, investment companies), main international players operating in the fund of funds sector, institutional investors (public and private foundations) as well as family offices, entrepreneurs and Italian and foreign high net worth individuals.
The McDermott Will & Emery team was led by Milan-based partner Emidio Cacciapuoti, assisted by Senior Associate Giorgio Bobba, who advised on regulatory issues. Senior Associate Davide Massiglia advised on tax aspects.
McDermott also assisted Ambienta SGR on negotiations with investors in collaboration with the fund formation team of the London office of Goodwin Procter. Rede Partners acted as placement agent for the fund.
