Mr. Schreiber will help lead McDermott’s initiative to bring best-in-class legal counsel to clients with a focus on cybersecurity, data breach response, and global privacy coordination.

Mr. Schreiber will play a central role in the firm’s expanded capabilities for multi-national entities facing cross-border data protection, Privacy Shield and related issues, strategic decisions, and investigations. He will become a key component in delivering the comprehensive legal counsel and creative solutions that McDermott’s highly ranked Global Privacy and Cybersecurity practice provides to clients across all industries. Mr. Schreiber joins a team with over 25 preeminent lawyers across the firm’s global platform who regularly advise clients on the statutory, regulatory and enforcement regimes that govern the use of data around the world, including in the US, the EU, and Asia.

McDermott’s Global Privacy and Cybersecurity team in the United States includes, among others, leading health information privacy and security lawyer, Daniel Gottlieb, in the Chicago office. Mr. de Beauregard has significant experience addressing data privacy in the workplace, including the negotiation and implementation of approval processes, data privacy policies and relevant inter-company agreements.

“Privacy and cybersecurity issues are of the utmost importance to our clients, and we are delighted to welcome Mark as an authority in the data protection arena,” said Raymond Jacobsen, global head of McDermott’s Regulatory Practice. “Mark’s regulatory experience will complement our existing Global Privacy and Cybersecurity practice by adding to the depth and breadth of the services we provide when addressing the complex privacy challenges faced by companies across the various global industries we serve.”

Mr. Schreiber focuses his practice on cybersecurity, privacy, and other regulatory compliance matters. He has led numerous multi-national and cross-border matters, including those involving data breaches, and has advised senior management, boards, and special board committees on a variety of investigations, including data breach prevention and response.

“Mark will be a great asset to our clients as they continue to look to McDermott for practical guidance and strategies in preventing and responding to cyberattacks and data breaches,” said Tony Bongiorno, partner-in-charge in Boston. “Mark’s arrival continues our growth momentum and expansion of the client services offered from the Boston office, and we are thrilled to welcome him to the team.”
