McDermott Adds Restructuring and Insolvency Capabilities to Help Clients Maximize Recoveries and Minimize Risk

Overview

McDermott Will & Emery is pleased to announce the arrival of Kristin Going as partner in the Transactions Practice Group in the Firm’s New York office. She will work with clients on all aspects of financial restructurings.

“For companies managing insolvency or firms handling complex restructuring, savvy legal counsel can ensure they maximize recoveries in and out of court and increase the likelihood of successful turnarounds,” said Harris Siskind, global head of McDermott’s Transactions Practice Group. “Kristin strengthens our offerings in a key geography for bankruptcy work and ensures we have full-service capabilities where our clients need us most.”

Kristin brings more than 20 years of experience in bankruptcy, including representing creditors in federal and state court litigation and out-of-court negotiations. Most recently, she served as the head of the Corporate Restructuring Practice at Drinker Biddle & Reath LLP. She frequently represents financial institutions in their capacity as Indenture Trustee, Collateral Agent, and Administrative Agent. She has in-depth knowledge of the bond industry and the regulations and laws that impact debt securities, as well as significant experience litigating issues related to debt securities in default situations.

“McDermott has top-tier talent across the board in transactions and its deep industry bench – particularly in health – is valuable for sophisticated finance and investment clients operating in these industries,” said Kristin. “The team at McDermott offers not just insolvency counsel but also practicable market insights and a dedicated team pursuing their business objectives.”

Kristin is a Chambers ranked attorney in Washington DC for bankruptcy and restructuring and a Chambers Recognized Practitioner in New York for bankruptcy and restructuring. In 2019, she was named a “2019 Notable Women in Law” by Crain’s New York Business. Kristin received her BA from Syracuse University, her JD from Cleveland Marshall College of Law and her LLM in bankruptcy from St. John’s University School of Law.
