McDermott Adds Restructuring Partner to Its Growing London Team

Overview

London (4 October, 2016) – International law firm McDermott Will & Emery is pleased to announce that it has welcomed Alicia Videon to its rapidly expanding Corporate and Transactional team in London.

Alicia – who specializes in restructuring, insolvency and non-performing loan sales issues – joins from Olswang LLP where she was a partner.

She has over 25 years’ experience representing lenders and borrowers, as well as distressed investors and other stakeholders, involved in local and multi-jurisdictional situations. Alicia has advised on a number of high-profile restructuring cases, including most recently a number of significant commercial real estate and property finance matters. Alicia also advises buyers and sellers of distressed debt, assisting in negotiating and documenting trades and implementing trading and investment strategies.

“It’s a pleasure to welcome Alicia onboard”, said Ira Coleman, Global Head of McDermott’s Corporate & Transactional practice and the chair-elect of the Firm. “McDermott excels at advising companies, individuals, banks and family offices on acquiring and disposing of their businesses and other assets. Alicia’s impressive restructuring and insolvency credentials bring a valuable skill set to our dynamically growing team,” he added.

“Alicia’s arrival is a significant development to the London Corporate and Transactional practice which will now offer the whole life cycle of a client’s legal and strategic needs,” said Andrew Vergunst, partner-in-charge of the Firm’s London office. “This hire is the latest in the string of appointments for McDermott in London and yet another step in our strategy for accelerated growth in the market,” he added. “Over the last few months we have welcomed new partners Piero Carbone, Michael Holter, Simon Goldring, Hamid Yunis, Tax Principal Russell Hampshire and now Alicia. I strongly believe that our new, strengthened offering incorporating bolstered private equity, media and aviation, private client, health care and restructuring capabilities will bring very tangible results to our clients.”

McDermott’s restructuring and insolvency group is a global team knowledgeable in all aspects of distressed transactions. The team has experience – and a veritable track record – advising the full range of interested parties, domestically and internationally, from the debtors requiring relief to the interested stakeholders lining up to recoup their positions.

McDermott’s Corporate & Transactional Practice represents business interests around the world, from global corporations and industry-leading companies to privately funded and entrepreneurial driven enterprises, as well as the financial institutions that support them. McDermott consistently ranks in the leading league tables, including Mergermarket, Thomson Reuters, Bloomberg and PitchBook. The Corporate & Transactional Practice Group was named “Team of the Year” for Middle Market M&A/Buyouts by The Legal 500 and is highly ranked in the United States, Germany and the United Kingdom by various Chambers.
